For many photographers (including me) a self portrait is a painful lesson in humility.  I take photos of people, so I know all too well that being a model comes easier for some people than others.  Putting myself in front of the lens, even when the camera is set to automatically take photos,  allows me to experience some of these feelings and insecurities that can hinder or even ruin photos.   Taking selfies in my own studio seems indulgent but also provides a good experience for me and helps me grow as a photographer.
