Here are a couple photos from a recent speedlight class held a the Goshen Photography Guild. Thanks to Danny Grabber for taking these photos. We covered TTL and manual flash settings, diffusion and on and off camera flash.

Speed-Light Class –
Join me for an “Introduction to Speed-Lights” class, Nov. 24 6-8 pm at the Goshen Photography Guild, 212 W. Washington Street Goshen. Pre-Registration is required.
This class is for current DSLR shooters who want to get the most out of using a camera-mounted speed-light AND learn how to get even better results by moving the flash off-camera. We will shoot demonstration photos as we discuss hard and soft light and explore diffusion options using umbrellas and soft-boxes. We’ll shoot in manual mode using a light meter and discuss inexpensive trigger and flash options. We’ll also review choices in radio transmitters including Pocket Wizard and Canon’s ST-E3-RT.

Silver Lining
I was impressed by a remarkable looking sky as I drove slowly down a rural county road near North Manchester. I spotted a silver lining in the sky and followed it for a couple of miles until I found this interesting shaped tree in a pasture. To get a decent perspective for a photograph, I scampered up a very steep bank where I then teetered with my camera between a drop-off and an electric fence. I had just started taking photos when the silhouette of a cow’s head emerged from over the hill. I then I did what any devoted photographer would do, I began calling cows. Minutes later two curious animals had made their way up the hill to see what all the commotion was about.
